The Ambani Bomb Scare case took a political turn when ex-Mumbai top cop Param Bir Singh sought a probe against Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh over his alleged malpractices. NCP chief, Sharad Pawar, had suggested a possibility of former Mumbai Police commissioner Julio Ribeiro heading the probe. Julio Ribeiro rejected the idea, citing his physical condition and the serious nature of the allegations.

Julio Ribeiro raised questions about the leadership of Param Bir Singh and the timing of his letter. Ribeiro also questioned the reinstatement of Sachin Vaze, calling it abnormal and illegal.
