India is "definitely not" in the community transmission stage of the coronavirus pandemic, the government said on June 11. This comes amid speculation over the past few days on the spike in cases in Mumbai & Delhi. Community transmission, or Stage 3 of a pandemic, is marked by cases that cannot be traced to any source of infection. The government also called the lockdown a success in checking the rapid spread of the virus. They unveiled a sero-survey report which says COVID-19 is prevalent in less than one per cent of the population in 83 districts. Dr Bhargava said according to the survey, only 0.73 per cent in showed a prevalence of the virus across India. India has now taken the fourth spot in the list of nations worst hit by Coronavirus. By the evening on June 11, India recorded 2,95,772 cases, overtaking UK, which was in the fourth spot so far, with 2,91,588 cases. India is now preceded only by Russia, Brazil and the US.
