Anti-coup protest movement is growing in Myanmar against military action that ousted elected leader Aung San Suu Kyi and halted a transition to democracy. Although there have been no mass street demonstrations in a country with a history of bloody crackdowns on protesters, a civil disobedience movement is growing and every night people bang pots and pans in a show of anger.

Meanwhile, a Moscow court on Tuesday jailed the Kremlin's most prominent critic Alexei Navalny for nearly three years, triggering fierce condemnation from the West and calls for his immediate release.
