Vidya Balan Starrer Natkhat Enters The Oscar 2021 Race
Vidya Balan starrer Natkhat, now officially entered the Oscar 2021 race. Elated and excited, the Shakuntala Devi star took to social media and shared the news with her fans.
Vidya Balan starrer short film, Natkhat, focuses predominantly on toxic masculinity in public, and today, it is in the race for Oscars 2021 - Best Short Film (Live Action) category.
Directed by Shaan Vyas, this 33 minute long short film communicates the message of gender violence, patriarchal and misogynistic society through Sonu and his mom played by Sanika Patel and Vidya respectively.
Actress Vidya Balan took to social media and made the official announcement.
She wrote:
“So so so Thrilled that our film #NATKHAT is in the RACE FOR THE #OSCARS2021 after a 2020 filled with prestigious international film festivals...”
Vidya, who is also the co-producer of the film, portrays the character of a woman who bears the brunt of patriarchy at home. A nameless ghunghat-clad woman of the household, her character resonates with many women in the semi-rural and rural houses.
