Actress Lori Loughlin, who landed her first television job at age 17 on the soap opera "The Edge of Night," and had her career-making role on the '90s series "Full House," opened up on "Salon Talks" about bringing up two daughters who have their own aspirations to get into the entertainment business.
Loughlin's advice to both of them is to pursue their passions, but have something to fall back on.
"Look, have some back up plan. Get a degree and something else. You can study theater and whatever you need to also at school," Loughlin says she has advised her daughters Bella and Olivia. "There's a part of me that goes yes, it's a hard business, but why not her?"
Loughlin pointed out how so much of the Hollywood has changed since she first got started-attributing her early-on opportunities to luck. She recognized the self-starter attitude of her younger daughter Olivia, who has built up an online following by creating makeup tutorial videos.
"She started a YouTube channel around makeup and beauty and now she's an ambassador for Sephora and she wants to have her own makeup line one day and she's totally moving in that direction, but she started that channel on her own. She did it all herself," Loughlin said. "I laugh. She's a one-woman production company. She hosts the show. She edits the show. She adds the music. She does the graphics. She comes up with the content. She produces the whole thing."
