How to reduce electricity bills?

Many countries such as Canada, call electricity as hydro so question could be how to reduce hydro bills? And why would you want to reduce it?

One simple reason could be to save more money and put it aside for retirement, emergency fund or invest it, right? Though electricity is commonly available mostly everywhere but at the end of the month one has to pay bill for consumed electricity.
