Julian Assange Will Never be Allowed to be Free
WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange cannot be extradited to the United States, a judge at the Old Bailey has ruled. Judge Vanessa Baraitser has ruled against extraditing Assange to the US due to the potential risks to his health and well-being.
While stating that there is plenty of reason to extradite him, the judge says she is satisfied that Mr Assange has the intellect to circumvent suicide-prevention measures. He would have the single-minded determination to kill himself, if he chose to.
So, while I’m ecstatic that Julian won’t be extradited on espionage charges, I’m not too happy with the reason why.
I’d have been a lot happier if he’d won the case because there simply wasn’t a case against him in the first place (which there isn’t), having his name cleared and being declared a free man.
But instead, we get an outcome that signifies that Julian is guilty, yet is not being shipped off to the US due to some sort of compassionate ruling by the Judge.
It stinks to high heaven if you ask me.
