Images released by the US Geological Survey Hawaiian Volcano Observatory and taken on December 27 show glowing lava flowing into the lava lake down Hawaii’s Kilauea volcano as the eruption in its Halema‘uma‘u summit continues. On the following day, December 28, a helicopter captured impressive footage of the eruption and the deep lava lake formed. Kilauea, a popular tourist attraction located on Hawaii's Big Island, erupted on December 20.
