국내 코로나 신규확진 1천92명... 사흘만에 다시 1천명대

We start with COVID-19 situation in South Korea.
As many countries around the globe have imposed restrictions on arrivals from the UK to protect against a new variant of COVID-19, South Korea's health authorities have announced their response to this issue.
Our Choi Won-jong is on the line for us. Won-jong, fill us in.
As you know, more than 40 countries including European nations, Canada, and Australia have already placed restrictions on travelers from the UK due to a new COVID-19 strain that has spread across southeast England. That's why the South Korean government announced their prevention guidelines on this issue. Take a listen.
"From today until December 31st, we are temporarily stopping all arrivals from the UK. And, we will also stop issuing Isolation Exemption Documents and have all UK travelers quarantine for 14 days, and take additional PCR tests after quarantine."
They mentioned much stricter prevention measures in a briefing... such as adjusting temperature screenings from 37-point-5 degrees Celsius to 37-point-3 degrees... and testing all flight attendants from the UK.
Moving away from today's briefing...We noticed that Wednesday's cases jumped back above one-thousand again. Wonjong, tell us more.
That's right. On Wednesday, South Korea confirmed an additional one-thousand-ninety-two COVID-19 cases.
Like you said, today's cases jump back into four digits again after the nation reported 8-hundred-sixty-nine cases yesterday.
All but 32 of Wednesday's cases were locally transmitted
Seoul alone had 3-hundred-seventy-six new cases... followed by 3-hundred 10 in Gyeonggi-do Province.
This brings the total number of cases to more than 52-thousand.
And 17 more people have died.
South Korea continues to see large cluster infections at religious facilities and nursing homes in every corner of the nation.
Starting on Thursday, the government has imposed special virus prevention measures until January 3rd.
Gatherings with more than 5 people are not allowed in the capital area,... including at restaurants.
Winter sports facilities, ski resorts and popular year-end tourist spots will also be closed.
That's all I have for you now. Back to you, Mark.
