Marianne "cries" in Paris as artist's mural defaced with tears

A fresco by street artist Obey depicting Marianne - the symbol of France - on a building in the 13th arrondissement of Paris was defaced. Red tears were painted under the figure's eyes and the motto of the Republic "liberty, equality, fraternity" was crossed out with white paint.
