‘TIME’ Finds That Men Are
Less Likely to Socially Distance
During the Holidays .
A new poll by ‘Time’ and Harris Poll has
revealed a shocking number of Americans don’t
intend to socially distance this holiday season. .
Even though COVID-19 deaths hit a record high
of 3,157 in a single day, 44 percent of
U.S. adults said they are still planning on
going to in-person Christmas celebrations. .
30 percent said they plan to celebrate New Year’s
outside of their household with friends or family. .
The poll found that men in particular are more likely to
ignore the CDC’s recommendation to avoid gatherings. .
One in three men plan on traveling for
Christmas, compared to one in five women. .
In terms of meeting with others outside
of their households, 50 percent of men said they would
for Christmas and 37 percent for New Year’s. .
In comparison, 39 percent of women
said they were planning to meet with others for
Christmas and 23 percent for New Year’s.
38 percent of Americans
aged 18-34 plan to travel for Christmas.
Only 17 percent of those between the
ages of 55-64 are planning on traveling. .
Travel plans also seem to be split
based on political affiliation.
52 percent of conservatives say they plan to attend
a Christmas celebration outside their household. .
Only 36 percent of liberals
plan to do the same.
