The Indian Navy Day is observed on December 4 every year to recognise the valour, achievement, and role of India's naval force. Every day, a different theme is proposed to celebrated the day and the events are organised accordingly. The Indian Navy Day commemorates Operation Trident, which was launched by the Indian Navy to attack Karachi Harbour during the War of 1971 between India and Pakistan.

नौसेना दिवस हर साल 4 दिसंबर को मनाया जाता है. इस दिन नौसेना के जाबाजों को याद किया जाता है. 1971 के भारत-पाकिस्तान युद्ध में भारतीय नौसेना की जीत के जश्न के रूप में भारतीय नौसेना दिवस मनाया जाता है। दरअसल पाकिस्तानी सेना ने 3 दिसंबर 1971 को हमारे हवाई क्षेत्र और सीमावर्ती क्षेत्र में हमला बोल दिया था। जवाबी कार्रवाई में भारत ने 4 दिसंबर को 'ऑपरेशन ट्राइडेंट' लॉन्च किया था। इसी के साथ 1971 के युद्ध की भी शुरुआत हुई थी।
