The Indian style originated in Persian poetry in the early 11th century. Themes, fantasies, narrow-mindedness, brevity, paradox, discernment and, most importantly, equation style were the hallmarks of this style of poetry. Along with this style and shortly before that, various schools of poetry such as Vasukht (turning away from the beloved) were also common. Since the roots of each style and school of poetry can be found in earlier poetic styles, the roots of many features of the Indian style, especially the style of equation and the school of burning, can also be found in earlier styles, especially in the Azerbaijani style and poetic works.
