Hundreds of residents were evacuated from Truc Bach Ward in Hanoi after an unexploded bomb was found by construction workers.

The 340kg ordnance was safely removed on Sunday night and detonated this morning at a shooting range in Bac Giang Province.

More than 800,000 tonnes of explosives remain scattered across Vietnam as the result of the wars between 1945-75.
