Constitution Day or Samvidhan Diwas is celebrated annually in India on 26 November. The day is also known as National Law Day. The day commemorates the adoption of the Constitution in India. On this day in 1949, the Constituent Assembly of India formally adopted the Constitution of India that came into force on 26 January 1950.

आजादी मिलते ही देश को चलाने के लिए संविधान बनाने की दिशा में काम शुरू कर दिया गया। इसी कड़ी में 29 अगस्त 1947 को भारतीय संविधान के निर्माण के लिए प्रारूप समिति की स्थापना की गई और इसके अध्यक्ष के रूप में डॉ. भीमराव अंबेडकर को जिम्मेदारी सौंपी गई। दुनिया भर के तमाम संविधानों को बारीकी से देखने-परखने के बाद डॉ. अंबेडकर ने भारतीय संविधान का मसौदा तैयार कर लिया।
