캐리람 "홍콩이 안보의 큰 구멍…정치체계 혼란 복구 시급
Hong Kong's Chief Executive Carrie Lam has defended the national security law amid ongoing controversy over the measure.
During her annual policy speech, Lam said Hong Kong is seeing the worst political chaos since its return to China.
She said restoring stability and constitutional order is Hong Kong's top priority,... reaffirming the importance of the new security law in doing so.
"Over the past four months, the law was remarkably effective in restoring stability in Hong Kong..... After a year of social unrest with fear for personal safety, Hong Kong people can once again enjoy their basic rights and freedoms according to the law."
The national security law, which outlaws acts of subversion, has been disputed in Hong Kong for months, prompting protests and the resignation of pro-democracy lawmakers.
