If you bring utensils on the day of Dhanteras, they should not be kept empty. Water should be kept in them before worship. It is believed that, like Goddess Lakshmi, Lord Dhanvantari also originated from the churning of the sea. Lord Dhanvantari had amrit kalash in his hand, so it is a tradition to buy kalash on this day. You can also place sweets in a pot-purchased on this day.

धनतेरस के दिन अगर आप बर्तन लाते हैं तो उन्हें खाली नहीं रखना चाहिए। पूजा से पहले उनमें जलभरकर रखना चाहिए। मान्यता है कि देवी लक्ष्मी की तरह ही भगवान धन्वंतरि भी समुद्र मंथन से उत्पन्न हुए थे। भगवान धन्वंतरि के हाथ में अमृत कलश था, इसलिए इस दिन कलश खरीदने की परंपरा है। आप इस दिन खरीदे गए बर्तन में मिठाई भी रख सकते हैं।
