President Moon Jae-in has held his first phone conversation with the presumptive U.S. President-elect Joe Biden.
South Korean officials say the two discussed Korean Peninsula issues and reaffirmed their commitment to the alliance.

President Moon Jae-in and presumptive U.S. President-elect Joe Biden have reaffirmed their commitment to the robust alliance and a peaceful and prosperous Korean Peninsula.
They had their first phone call on Thursday morning, local time, lasting 14 minutes.
It came four days after Biden was projected to have won the election.
"President Moon said that he hopes to closely communicate with the U.S. for the development of the Seoul-Washington alliance... and for denuclearization and lasting peace on the Korean Peninsula."
Referring to Biden's visit to the Korean War memorial in Philadelphia to mark U.S. Veterans Day,... Moon said that it reaffirmed their strong alliance,... thanking Biden for his interest in Korean Peninsula affairs.
Biden called South Korea the linchpin of security and prosperity in Indo-Pacific region reaffirming Washington's security commitment to Seoul.
He also pledged close cooperation with South Korea in solving North Korea's nuclear issue.
Biden expressed hope that the two countries can work closely together on global issues,... such as tackling COVID-19, responding to climate change and reviving the global economy.
Moon and Biden also agreed to meet at an early date once the president-elect takes office.
