Texas Becomes First State
With More Than 1 Million
Confirmed COVID-19 Cases.
Texas, the nation’s second-most populous state,
has officially surpassed one million cases of COVID-19. .
The state has recorded 1,010,364 cases
and 19,337 deaths since the pandemic began.
Texas also set a new daily record on Tuesday,
recording 10,865 new coronavirus cases.
According to state figures,
an estimated 132,146 cases
are currently active —
the most since August 17.
An estimated 6,170 COVID-19 cases are
hospitalized — the most since August 18.
The state's rising numbers come as
coronavirus continues to surge in
the border cities of Laredo and El Paso. .
Laredo health officials report 934 currently
active cases, with a total death toll of 367. .
El Paso reported another 1,292 cases
on Tuesday, with 27,895 currently active
cases and 682 total deaths.
