트럼프, 대선 패배 이틀 만에 '눈엣가시' 국방장관 전격 경질
U.S. President Trump fired Defense Secretary Mark Esper in a tweet on Monday.
And he appointed Christopher Miller, the director of the National Counterterrorism Center, as the acting Defense Secretary.
There had been speculation since June that Esper could be terminated for having opposing Trump over the sending of military troops to control demonstrations against police brutality.
With Miller being named as acting secretary it is unlikely that the president will formally name Esper's replacement before he is set to leave office in January.
