As soon as Kamala Harris, a woman who has her roots in a remote village called Thulasendrapuram in Painganadu, near Mannargudi in Tamil Nadu's Tiruvarur district, made history by becoming the first woman and first Indian-American to become the US Vice President-elect, the word spread among the 150 houses in the village.
