Devotees celebrated ‘Ganga Dussehra’ in UP’s Varanasi on Wednesday. They took holy dip in river Ganga on the occasion. Ganga Dussehra is also known as Gangavataran. As per the Hindu Puranas, Maa Ganga descended on the Earth on ‘Ganga  Dussehra’. ‘Ganga Dussehra’ takes place on Dashami (10th day) of the waxing moon (Shukla Paksha) of the Hindu calendar month Jyeshtha.
