Ever since the government announced a sudden and complete lockdown across India to contain the spread of coronavirus, the country’s self-employed workers as well as the labour class employed in the unorganised sector are facing immense economic hardship. From autorickshaw drivers to house maids to construction workers, in Mumbai, Delhi and other cities, these Indians have seen their daily-incomes drying up overnight.
