83 people were reported dead in the thunderstorms that swept Bihar over the past 48 hours. The state’s Gopalganj district was the worst-affected with 13 people reported dead. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar expressed his grief and has also promised a compensation of Rs. 4 lakh to the family of the deceased. India Meteorological Department has issued heavy to very heavy rainfall warnings to Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Bihar, West Bengal and Sikkim over the next three days.
