American rapper & producer Kanye West took to Twitter on July 4 to announce that he would be running for the President of the United States. The 43-year-old rapper chose July 4, widely celebrated across the United States as its Independence Day, to make this big announcement. The elections are slated to take place in November. West’s announcement is an apparent challenge to Trump and his presumptive Democratic rival, former Vice President Joe Biden. This is not the first time when West announced his intention to run for the President’s post. In 2015, while accepting an award at the MTV Video Music Awards, West had first announced that he would run for President in 2020. At an event in November in 2019, West declared he would run for President in 2024. With just four months left for polling day on November 3, West has not confirmed whether he has submitted the official paperwork required to appear on state election ballots. West is also yet to clarify whether he will be running as an Independent candidate or if he has any party affiliations. Watch the video to know more about Kanye West, his career and politics.
