What is the reference?
Reference is address of cell. By which we can uniquely identify a cell. Actually address and reference two are same but difference is that during formula or function, when we use address then this address is called reference.
How many types of reference and name?
According to reference format: -
There are four (4) types of reference
1. Relative reference like A1,B6,A9 etc. (Default reference).
2. Absolute reference like $A$1, $B$6, $A$9 etc. (Fixed reference)
3. Mixed reference like $A1, A$1 , $B6, B$6 etc. (Relative + Absolute)
4. Circular Reference (iteration calculation/ loop)
According to reference style:-
1. A1 (General / By default)
2. R1C1 (Active from option, R for Row and C for Column)

What is Relative reference?
When we drag or paste a reference column-wise then the reference will be changed according to the column name and When we drag or paste a reference row-wise then the reference will be changed according to row no. This is the default reference.
What is Absolute reference?
Absolute reference means Fixed reference. When a reference never changes if we drag or paste column or row-wise. This reference is called Absolute reference.
We use the $ sign before row and column. Or we use the F4 function key to fixed an address.
What is a Mixed Address?
When we use both Relative and Absolute reference in a reference. This reference is called Mixed reference. In case of mixed reference we absolute either column or row.
