A multi-country backlash — going beyond the Arab world — is escalating following French President Emmanuel Macron's comment following terrorism-related incidents in Paris. The Ministry of External Affairs had issued a statement in support of Macron over his remarks on Islam and radicalism, however, many people in India were seen protesting against the French President on Thursday. Despite Centre's support, India seems to have joined Islamic countries like Turkey and Pakistan, among others, to criticise France for its President's remarks on radical Islam. Meanwhile, a knife-wielding attacker beheaded a woman and killed two others in a suspected terrorist attack at a church in the French city of Nice on Thursday, while a gunman was shot dead by police in a separate incident.
