Dussehra is not celebrated in Baijnath city of Himachal Pradesh. There is a belief among the people here that if someone tries to celebrate Dussehra, then he dies or he seriously suffers some disease. There is no goldsmith shop in this city, because here it is believed that the shop that opens the gold shop is destroyed. People say that this is the taposthali of Ravana, hence Dussehra is not celebrated here.

हिमाचल प्रदेश के बैजनाथ शहर में दशहरा नहीं मनाया जाता है. यहां के लोगों के बीच ये मान्यता है कि अगर कोई दशहरा मनाने की कोशिश करता है तो उसे मौत आ जाती है या फिर गंभीर रूप से कोई न कोई बीमारी जकड़ लेती है. इस शहर में कोई भी सुनार की दुकान नहीं है, क्योंकि यहां ये माना जाता है कि जो सोने की दुकान खोलता है उसकी दुकान उजड़ जाती है. लोगों का कहना है कि ये रावण की तपोस्थली है इसलिए यहां दशहरा नहीं मनाया जाता है.
