Tension gripped across the district on Tuesday after a 63-year-old father and his 31-year-old son belonging to Sathankulam were allegedly killed in police custody. Kin of the deceased and the traders have suspected police torture for the death of the duo and protested seeking severe punishment against 13 police personnel. Now, media reports have suggested that the duo was brutally sexually assaulted in police custody.

Sources said that J Fenix (31) was declared dead at Kovilpatti government hospital by 8 pm on Monday while his father P Jeyaraj (63) died in the same hospital in hours on Tuesday.The family have alleged that the father and son were thrashed by the police while in custody and did not suffer health ailments, as alleged by the police department.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister K Palaniswami He also announced Rs 10 lakh solatium each to their families and government jobs to a family member of each deceased.The Chief Minister said the two policemen alleged to be responsible for the deaths had been suspended and the inspector of Sathankulam been kept under compulsory waiting.In this video host Se.Tha Elangovan talks about Reason Behind the Sathankulam custodial death briefly.
