On Thursday, the Supreme Court began hearing a petition seeking a probe monitored by a sitting or retired Supreme Court or High Court judge into the Hathras gang-rape case. The petition also sought the transfer of the case from the state of Uttar Pradesh to Delhi, on the grounds that the state government has failed to take action against the four gang-rape accused.
