This is the moment an Indonesian man makes a joke about the poor choice of music from a local mosque, leading to his arrest for blasphemy and a possible six-year jail term. The incident was filmed in the city of Bandung in the Indonesian province of West Java and was later shared on TikTok by Kenneth William Saputra. In the footage, Saputra is seen talking to the camera as loud music plays in the background. He then points to a mosque across the street and claims that the noise is “immoral”. The suspect says in the clip: “I was going for a walk and then I heard this [music]. It turned out it’s coming from there (the mosque). Whoever is playing this music really has no morals.” In a follow-up video, he appears to be trying to backtrack on his earlier humour, admitting that the mosque did not actually blare music through a speaker system and that he added the audio himself for amusement. He also claimed that he had not been wanting to make a joke about Islam, but had simply been showing people that it didn't work playing music through the speakers normally used for the call to prayer.
