전동킥보드 배터리 관리기준 강화…내년 8월 시행

For the popular electric kickboards seen these days on South Korean streets, the government's decided to strengthen safety standards when it comes to their batteries...in response to fires that have occured recently.
The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy said Wednesday that from next August... kickboard owners will have to take the batteries out when they store the device.
This applies also to the companies that run kickboard sharing apps.
There will also be more rigorous testing of their charging limits.
Kickboards, the government says, have been involved in dozens of fires and explosions over the past three years.
