South Korea sees a slight uptick in the number of new COVID-19 cases reported, with the majority of Thursday's cases coming from the capital region.
Bae Eun-ji reports.
South Korea reported 125 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday, of them 110 were locally transmitted and 15 were from overseas.
It's the second day in a row with more than 100 infections.
The number of daily cases had briefly fallen below 100 after being in the triple digits from August 14th to September 19th.
Following strict level 2-point-5 social distancing measures, confirmed cases dropped to as low as 61 on Tuesday before rising again.
Among locally transmitted cases on Thursday, 92 came from the greater Seoul area, with 39 reported in Seoul and 43 in the surrounding Gyeonggi-do Province.
"Cases in the Seoul metropolitan area still account for 70% of the total cases. We are worried as sporadic cluster infections continue to appear throughout the nation."
The Vice Head of the KDCA went on to say that the upcoming Chuseok holiday, which starts on September 30th, must not bring a second wave of COVID-19.
The total number of confirmed cases now stands at 23-thousand-341.
There were five additional deaths,... raising the death toll to 393.
