문 대통령 "2025년까지 오래된 학교 건물 2천800동 최첨단으로 바꾼다"

President Moon Jae-in has vowed to turn some 28-hundred old school buildings into so-called "smart schools" by 2025 as part of the government's New Deal initiative.
The remarks came during his visit to Changdeok Girls' Middle School in Seoul, a school that's taking the lead in the transition.
The government plans to invest 18.5 trillion won (US$ 15.6 billion) by 2025. We will build the foundation for a regional and national transformation so that "green smart schools" can fundamentally change the methods and social role of education."
The plan calls for the adoption of digital and green features, such as the use of eco-friendly energy sources and construction materials, into the education system.
All this while making sure there's no digital educational divide by region.
President Moon also expressed concerns over the latest spike in coronavirus cases in the greater Seoul area,... saying that a complete reopening of schools will have to be put on hold for the time being.
He called for thorough efforts at schools to prepare for the next semester,... stressing that the nation is at a critical juncture which will decide the fate of its quarantine efforts.
Currently, all schools in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do Province are required to operate at one-third capacity.
