Robots check visitors for signs of the Covid-19 coronavirus at a building in Bangkok, Thailand, this week.

The impressive devices made by telecoms firm AIS include a robot 'nurse' that uses thermal scanning to show signs of fevers in people. Fevers are a symptom of the virus.

While a robot dog uses sensors to approach passers-by and offer them hand sanitiser.

The manufacturer said the robots are controlled by 5G to ensure shoppers' hygiene and safety to contain the Covid-19 outbreak.
One of the AIS robots, 'Robot for Care' (ROC), can screen body temperatures while the robot dog, called 'AIS K9', provides alcohol-based hand wash for hygiene purposes.

The robots have already been used successfully at the CentralWorld department store. They are seen in the video at a property exhibition on August 14.

Thailand has been free of local Covid-19 transmissions since May 26 and with only around 3,400 cases, the country avoided the suffering seen in neighbouring parts of Southeast Asia such as the Philippines and Indonesia.
