Although there is no scientific evidence that traditional Malay and Chinese herbal medicines can treat the Covid-19 pandemic, the Ministry of Health (MOH) did not discount the possibility that they may help in the recovery.
Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said that on Thursday when asked about the discussion his ministry had with a team of visiting Chinese medical experts to the country.
Dr Noor Hisham added that such traditional medicines and treatments such as acupuncture can be used to complement the treatment instead of being the treatment itself.
The Health DG further explained that the ministry’s discussions with their counterparts in China was not on remedial cures but in curbing and controlling the infection rate of the illness.
