Before entering the palace, Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin confirmed his intention to form the Perikatan Nasional coalition and that he would bring the voice to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

Muhyiddin was met at his residence along with other leaders, including Umno president, Datuk Seri Dr Zahid Hamidi, PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang, and Datuk Seri Azmin Ali before leaving for Istana Negara.
