Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lu Kang said the United States "defames and spreads rumours on companies from other countries without presentable evidence," concerning US President Donald Trump's ban of the Chinese telecoms company Huawei, during a press conference held on Monday in Beijing.

Lu Kang specified that the ban is aimed at gaining "an illegitimate competitive edge."
