In an effort to ease burden of the urban poor, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi announced that the government will provide free bus rides to schools for pupils from families living in the Projek Perumahan Rakyat (PPR) low-cost flats, and the government will make it easier for lower income earners in the city to own PPR flats.
