유엔 회원국, '北근로자 송환 보고서' 제출 실적 저조
Around ten countries have yet to submit their final reports to the UN on the progress made repatriating North Korean workers in line with UN sanctions.
According to a report by experts for the UN Security Council North Korea sanctions committee, only about 40 out of the 50 countries turned in their final reports by the March 22nd deadline.
Under the UN Security Council resolution, all UN member states were required to send back North Korean workers by December 22nd, 2019.
Much of the workers' income is known to be extorted by the regime to develop nuclear weapons and conduct cyber attacks on UN member states.
The report also noted the sanctions had hampered international aid to the North, especially with restrictions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
