Centre's new Kashmir: What has changed after a year of abrogation of Article 370

It has been a year since the Central government stripped the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir of its special status and revoked Article 370. The state was divided into two territories of the Union- Ladakh and Jammu and Kashmir.

Less than a year after being appointed the first Lieutenant Governor (LG) of Jammu and Kashmir, Girish Chandra Murmu submitted his resignation on Wednesday. The development was confirmed by a press communication from the Rashtrapati Bhawan on Thursday morning.

It was later announced that the new LG of J K would be BJP leader and former Union Minister Manoj Singh. Manoj Sinha was former Minister of State for Railways and later held an independent charge of Ministry of Communication.The BJP leader has thrice represented the party in Parliament.
