Some rare positive news for the devastated global aviation industry.
Korean Air reported a quarterly profit on strong cargo demand despite the Covid-19 outbreak.
According to the company on Thursday, the country's biggest carrier beat earnings expectations posting an operating profit of 1-hundred-25-point-2 million U.S. dollars during the April to June period.
Cargo sales climbed 95-percent from a year earlier to 1 billion dollars.
Korean Air explained that converting its passenger jets into cargo planes helped offset a sharp decline in passenger travel demand amid virus fears.
The company suspended most of its international flights since March as more than one-hundred-80 countries closed or restricted their borders.
