호우 피해로 나흘간 15명 사망, 11명 실종,... 문 대통령 "지나치다 싶을 정도의 예방조치 주문"
Damage from the torrential downpours in South Korea's central region and Seoul this week has so far left 15 dead and 11 others missing as of Tuesday.
The Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasure Headquarters says more than 1-thousand people were forced to leave their homes over the past five days alone.
With sporadic heavy rain continuing, many low-lying bridges and roadways in Seoul and surrounding areas are still closed for both pedestrians and drivers and operations of six railway lines have been halted.
President Moon Jae-in has urged relevant ministries to take preventive measures to the "extent that could be seen as excessive."
He also asked related ministry officials to put their best efforts to prevent additional casualties by closing off areas.
