Firemen rescued two children from a locked car after a mother accidentally closed the doors while the engine was still running.

The mother parked her pickup truck at a school to collect the girls' brother in Songkhla, southern Thailand.

She had left her two girls, ages one and four, inside the car and left the engine on to quickly pick up her son.

However, when she returned to the car with the young boy, she found that her two girls had fallen asleep.

She tried to knock on the window to wake them up and open the door for but to no avail.

The panic-stricken mother called the emergecny services to help her unlock the door as she started to worry that the girls could be in danger.

Rescuers spent 20 minutes un-jamming the car window before they could open it while the older girl simultaneously woke up and was baffled by the chaotic scene.

The relieved mother-of-three said that normally her older girl would be prepared to open the car door for her but this time she was fast asleep.

She said: "I have taught my older daughter to unlock the car and always left them in the car while I went to pick up their brother.

"But this time I think they were exhausted from their day at the school and fell into a deep sleep so they didn't hear me from outside."
