Ding Li is founder of Green Rose, the only NGO in the southern Chinese city of Shenzhen serving female migrant workers. Since September 2017, Li has been collecting stories from the workers and writing them into dramas which often feature the women sharing their experiences on the stage. The plays aim to empower Chinese women, especially from poor families, at the same time as they raise public awareness about issues such as domestic violence and gender inequality.
