문 대통령 "日 수출규제 1년…첨단산업 세계공장 목표로 역량 총동원"
President Moon Jae-in believes South Korea is on its way to becoming a strong, unshakeable economy despite Japan's export restrictions now in place for a year.
In a meeting with his top aides on Monday,... Moon said that contrary to concerns that this would deal a direct blow to the economy, it has rather sped up the localization of production and diversified Korea's suppliers.
He noted the growing protectionism and inward focus of countries amid the pandemic... and called for an active response.
The private and public sector must come together as one in a pan-national effort to become a 'materials and parts power' and a 'world factory for state-of-the-art industries.' I ask you to prepare to report the government's relevant strategy and plan to the people.
The president also said that support from the National Assembly is crucial calling for the swift passage of the government's 29 billion U.S. dollar extra budget bill.
He said he believes parliament won't turn a blind eye to those who are suffering.
Moon also expressed hope for increased consumption... through a large retail campaign dubbed the "Korea Donghaeng Sale," which runs until July 12.
And noting that the COVID-19 situation is under control in the country,... he also said he hopes people will travel more domestically during their summer vacations.
