Video shows a family running away as a scary "microburst" wind storm blows through a lake in Muskoka in Central Ontario, Canada, on June 10.

The sky is dark with storm clouds, and quickly torrential rain pelts the water, and the wind howls towards the camera.

Aftermath footage shows the destruction caused and an excavator clearing the family's driveway.

Zac Pinheiro, the filmer, described the storm as "like nothing I have ever felt," and told Newsflare about his dangerously close call with a falling tree.

He said, "We heard a storm was coming, so we decided to watch it come across the lake, not knowing the severity of the storm. A minute later, the storm started coming across the lake, only picking up speed heading right for us. Over 150 km/h winds and a huge amount of rain.

"As soon as I saw the rain skipping across the water, I knew I needed to run.

"30 seconds after the video, I ran upstairs to close the windows, and on my way there, two trees came through the house, not five feet from me, directly over the door I came into the house through.

"There were over 60 large trees down around the house. It took three hours with an excavator and two guys cutting to get down our driveway. There are healthy trees up to 45 inches in diameter uprooted and snapped."

A "microburst" is a powerful but often short-lived localised system of wind.
