Hundreds of protesters took to the streets in Los Angeles to show support for the Black Lives Matter movement and to honor the life of George Floyd, an unarmed black man killed while in police custody in . Minneapolis. Floyd's death has changed the trajectory of race relations in America and has sparked widespread protests around the globe. Between the pandemic and the protests, the world is in turmoil and some people are considering George Floyd's death as a call to action, demanding an end to systemic racism and police brutality. In recent weeks, the worldwide impact of the Black Lives Matter movement has prompted rallies and marches with crowds in the hundreds and even tens of thousands of protestors in Los Angeles speaking out. People want police reform, racial equality and more importantly they want to be heard. In the wake of the civil unrest overtaking the country right now, people are not sitting back on the sidelines. Protestors shut down Sunset Boulevard in front of the world-famous Laugh Factory to pay tribute to George Floyd. The peaceful demonstration featured chanting, singing, guest speakers and even 8 minutes and 46 seconds of silence to honor George Floyd's life. While the nation continues to see rallies fill the streets, many Angelenos told reporter Germany Kent they flocked to the Southland demonstration because they wanted to stand in solidarity with hopes that their actions around the cause will bring about change.
