This solstice is also considered important because the rainy season starts only after this. Some people also know it as Raz Sankranti.

एक साल में 12 संक्रांति होती हें। जिसमें सूर्य अलग-अलग राशि और नक्षत्र पर विराजमान होता है। संक्रांति में दान-दक्षिणा और पूजा-पाठ का विशेष महत्‍व होता है। ऐसी ही एक मिथुन संक्रांति है। यह संक्रांति इसलिए भी महत्‍वपूर्ण मानी जाती है क्‍योंकि इसके बाद से ही वर्षा ऋतु शुरु हो जाती है। कुछ लोग इसे रज संक्रांति के नाम से भी जानते हैं।
