Joe Biden has officially reached the majority delegate threshold to secure the Democratic nomination for President of the United States.
According to Decision Desk HQ Biden secured the majority threshold of 1,991 pledged delegates with his win in the Virgin Islands' Democratic primary.
Business Insider reports that Biden became the presumptive nominee when Sen. Bernie Sanders dropped out of the race on April 8.
Sanders is staying on the ballot to earn delegates in remaining states to secure spots on crucial DNC committees.
